Cobra Chase: A Community Story About Showing Up for Our Keiki

Fundraiser Highlight

Cobra Chase is on January 30, 2026

by Christina Tang

At Koko Head Elementary, one annual tradition brings the entire school community together in a way that is joyful, purposeful, and deeply needed: the Cobra Chase. Each year, families, teachers, and neighbors rally around this event—not simply to cheer on a run, but to invest in the experiences that shape our children’s growth.

Friends of Koko Head (FKH), the nonprofit that supports the school, is working to expand opportunities for every child by strengthening programs like music, art, yoga, and P.E. This year’s goal is especially meaningful: raising the funds needed to bring music instruments into the classroom so students of all ages can explore creativity, expression, and connection. These are the moments that help kids find their confidence, discover new interests, and build the skills that stay with them far beyond elementary school.

At Kōkua Collective, our mission is to elevate stories exactly like this—where a school’s hopes and a community’s generosity come together to create real, lasting impact.

The Cobra Chase is more than a fundraiser. It’s a chance for our community to see the heart of Koko Head Elementary: keiki excited to participate, families rallying behind them, and supporters stepping in to uplift programs that enrich learning and support student well-being.

When we share these stories, we help ensure every family, neighbor, and supporter understands what’s possible when we come together. Awareness opens doors. Connection builds momentum. And collective action—whether through donations, sponsorships, or simply spreading the word—pushes this effort closer to the $70,000 needed to strengthen music education at our school.

As we highlight this fundraiser, we invite our wider community to stand with Koko Head Elementary. Every contribution, every share, and every voice amplifying this effort brings us closer to new opportunities for our keiki.

  • Together, we help schools be seen.

  • Together, we connect supporters to meaningful purpose.

  • Together, we create impact that lasts long after race day.

To participate, simply review the Cobra Chase envelope sent home with your child, complete the form, and return it to the school office by January 30.

Your support—big or small—helps bring music and meaningful opportunities to our keiki.
